As the I-LEAD charter school in Reading is faced with shutting down, supporters of the school are rallying together in hopes of saving it.

During a “night of action,” teachers, students, parents, city leaders and other community members packed the basement of the school in center city, vowing to fight for the school.

The action comes after the Reading School Board voted 6-3 last week to take steps toward revoking the school’s charter. School board members argue that I-LEAD is failing to meet state and federal standards, but according to I-LEAD’s CEO, Angel Figueroa, those claims are baseless.
